Summer is on it’s way, which is the perfect time to be outdoors and having fun. Many of us have great intentions about engaging in outdoor summer activities, but sometimes we just don’t have the energy to get out and get moving. Here are three easy steps to putting more energy in your life:
One: Get at least eight hours of sleep every night. With the sunlight lasting longer, you may find yourself staying up later than usual. Make it a point to keep a regular bedtime and try adding a 20 minute power nap in the afternoon. There’s a lot to be said for a midday siesta!
Two: Eat healthy, whole foods. Summer is the perfect time to take advantage of local in-season fruits and vegetables that are packed full of healthy nutrients. Stay away from sugary drinks, artificial additives (especially sweeteners), and unhealthy fats. These will just clog you up and slow you down.
Three: Take it to the Lord in prayer! Stress, worries, anxiety, and depression can all sap your energy. Find ways to relieve it—through exercise, improved diet, meditation, massage therapy, or professional help if the issue is seriously disrupting your life.
